Popular Framlingham care home day club reopens in style

Home news

A care home in Framlingham has officially reopened its day club service after a two-year closure to great fanfare – and with the help of special guests.

Care UK’s Mills Meadow, on Fore Street, celebrated the opening of ‘The Mills Meadow Day Club’ with the community – including special guest Nick Corke from local charity partner Hour Community.

The day club, which was very popular among older people in the community prior to its closure due to the pandemic, features its own reminiscence room and beauty salon, giving guests access to hairdressing services – or a chance to enjoy a pamper session. Members and visitors are also given the opportunity to use a music room or take part in a range of outings and activities, from arts and crafts to gardening.

To mark its official reopening, the ribbon was cut by Nick Corke and Paul Benton, one of the club’s most loyal members pre-closure.

Nick Corke, CEO of Hour Community, said: “It was wonderful to be part of such a special day. Hour Community have worked closely with Mills Meadow over the years and we’re proud to support the home and residents. We look forward to visiting again very soon.”

Pauline Mortimer, Mills Meadow Day Centre Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to announce ‘The Mills Meadow Day Club’ has officially reopened!

“Here at Mills Meadow, we’re keen to support members of the community in any way we can and the day club will provide a warm, welcoming sanctuary to many. The day club was incredibly popular prior to the pandemic so it’s wonderful to once again be able to offer this service.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate. We’ve got some fantastic activities lined up for the new year, so we look forward to welcoming back both new and familiar faces!”

For those who live too far away from Framlingham, another two day centres, offering similar high-standard facilities, are set to reopen soon at Mills Meadow’s sister homes – Davers Court, in Bury St Edmunds, and Britten Court, in Lowestoft.

Mills Meadow care home is designed to deliver the very best standards of care, and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home offers a range of services including residential care, specialist dementia care and respite care.
