Let the good vibes roll! Lowestoft care home invites local community to a festival to remember

Home announcement

A new festival is coming to Lowestoft – and you won’t believe where it’s taking place.

On Friday 30th June, from 11am-4pm, Care UK’s Britten Court, on Love Road, is set to hit the right note as it opens its doors to welcome the people of Lowestoft for Britfest.

The 1960s inspired festival comes as Britten Court celebrates Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

The special event will see guests dancing along to live entertainment from Elvis, Bob, Stephen, Amer and Andy who will be performing music from across the swinging sixties – sure to get the party started.

There will also be a bouncy castle and a face painter on hand to keep younger visitors entertained. Guests can also visit a host of stalls, where there’ll be homemade cakes available, and a raffle.

Visitors are invited to come dressed for the swinging sixties, and residents will be putting their judging skills to the test as they choose who will take home first place  in a best-dressed competition.

There will also be a traditional summer barbecue and a selection of sweet treats, specially prepared by the home’s talented Head Chef.

Ahead of the event, residents have spent time reminiscing about their own festival memories, including 81-year-old Lesley Hull, who enjoyed attending festivals in Tenerife.

She said: “I used to love seeing the bright colours and everyone wearing flower headbands.”

Chloe Swarbrick, Home Manager at Britten Court, commented: “We have our dancing shoes (and wellies!) at the ready as we gear up to celebrate Care Home Open Week and get set to welcome summer in style.

“Here at Britten Court, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to support residents to lead fulfilling lives – and what better way to do that than to host our very own festival, as we pull out all the musical stops.

“We’re excited to open our doors to the community and welcome the people of Lowestoft for what promises to be a truly memorable event – come along and join us for a musically good time!”
